Sound

Sound effects and music from your own audio files, and beeps, jingles, and short tunes the game makes by itself.

Try each example, then copy the words under it and paste them to your AI. You can also send your AI the link to an example.

Sounds from files

Recorded sound effects, voices, and music. Upload an audio file, or have your AI add one, and the game plays it.

Sound effects

A sound file plays the moment something happens. Played again quickly, the sounds overlap instead of cutting each other off.

Tap the example to hear it. Browsers only play sound after a tap.

Ask your AI

Play the sound "jump" when the character jumps.

View code
game.playSound("jump");

Music

A track that loops while the game plays, and can pause, resume, and stop. Music started before the first tap waits for it, because browsers stay silent until then.

Tap the example to start the music, and tap again to pause or resume it.

Ask your AI

Play the music "theme" in a loop at medium volume, pause it while the game is paused, and stop it on the game-over screen.

View code
const music = game.playSound("theme", { loop: true, volume: 0.6 });
music.pause();
music.resume();
music.stop();

Upload a sound

For a sound or a song of your own, or when your AI cannot send audio to Minimo.

Where to find it
  1. My Games
  2. your game
  3. Open in Studio
  4. Assets
  5. Upload

Choose an MP3 if you can: every browser plays it. WAV and OGG work too, but WAV files are large and OGG does not play in every Safari. Each file can be up to 5 MB, so keep music to a short loop. You can listen to it in its details, then tell your AI which sound you added.

Ask your AI

I uploaded the sound "jump" to the game; play it when the character jumps.

Retro sound effects

Beeps the game makes by itself, with no audio file at all, from simple square-wave tones like classic arcade machines. They suit a game that is retro on purpose; for any other game, sounds from files sound much better.

One tone

A single beep. Higher numbers sound higher, and short beeps sound snappier.

Tap the example to hear it. Browsers only play sound after a tap.

660 Hz
120ms
Ask your AI

Play a short 660 Hz beep when the player taps a button.

View code
game.sound(660, 120);

Game sounds

A few tones in a row make a recognizable sound effect.

Tap the example to hear it. Browsers only play sound after a tap.

Ask your AI

Play a bright two-note coin sound when a coin is collected.

View code
game.soundSequence([988, 70], [1319, 160]);

Short tunes

A handful of notes for the big moments: starting, winning, and losing.

Jingles

A little melody for a moment the player should notice.

Tap the example to hear it. Browsers only play sound after a tap.

Ask your AI

Play a short victory fanfare when the player wins the level.

View code
game.soundSequence([523, 120], [659, 120], [784, 120], [1047, 360]);
